Home / Estate visitor management

Estate visitor management, without the phone calls.

A resident issues a six digit pass. The visitor shows it at the gate. Entry and exit are recorded against the host, automatically, and the check still works when the network does not.

The problem

Three phone calls to let one person in.

A visitor arrives. They call the resident. The resident calls the gate. The gateman has no airtime, or is at the other gate. Everybody waits.

A book that proves nothing

A name scribbled at 7pm is illegible at 7am. When there is an incident, the page has no photo, no exit time and often no full name.

The gate runs on phone calls

Every arrival becomes a negotiation. The gateman is interrupted all day and the resident is interrupted at work.

No record of who left

Entry is sometimes written down. Exit almost never is. So the estate cannot say who is still inside at any moment.

How it works

A pass, a code, and a record that writes itself.

1

The resident issues a pass

Name, how long it should last, one time or reusable. A six digit code appears and can be sent on WhatsApp in the same tap.

2

The visitor arrives with the code

No app to install and nothing to print. Six digits, spoken or shown.

3

The gate checks it

The gateman keys it in, or a terminal reads it. The screen shows the visitor, the host and a plain verdict: let in, or stop, with the reason.

4

Entry and exit are recorded

Both directions, with the time, against the host. A one time pass is refused on a second attempt.

5

The committee reads the log

Not a book anybody has to maintain. A record that exists because the gate was used.

What each person gets

Different jobs, one system.

The resident

Issues passes in seconds, sends them on WhatsApp, and sees when their visitor actually arrived.

The gateman

Big buttons, a fast check and a one word verdict. Works the same when the network does not.

The committee

Every movement in one searchable log, and access rules that can be set per house.

Deliveries and artisans

A rider or a tradesman gets the same code as any visitor, so nothing enters the estate unrecorded.

During an outage

Checks continue at the gate. Nothing is lost, and everything reconciles when the line returns.

With existing hardware

Runs on a gate phone alone, or drives a boom barrier and access terminal where one is installed.

Try it

Issue a pass and check it at a gate, right now.

There is a working demo on the home page. Create a pass, key it in at a simulated gate, then cut the network and watch what happens.

Questions we get

What estates ask before they decide.

What is estate visitor management?
It is how a gated estate controls and records who comes in. In most Nigerian estates it is still a paper book at the gate and a phone call to the resident. Software replaces both: the resident issues a pass in an app, the visitor shows a code at the gate, and the entry and the exit are recorded automatically against the host.
How does a visitor gate code work?
The resident opens the Kompound app, enters the visitor's name, chooses how long the pass should last, and gets a six digit code. They send it on WhatsApp. At the gate the code is keyed in or read by a terminal, the gateman sees who the visitor is and which house they belong to, and the barrier opens. The exit is recorded the same way.
Can a visitor pass be used twice?
Only if the resident chooses. A one time pass allows one entry and one exit and is refused after that. A reusable pass works until it expires. Every pass has an expiry, so nothing stays valid forever.
What happens if the network is down at the gate?
The approved list is held on the gate phone and on the barrier controller, so the check happens at the gate rather than in the cloud. A pass issued before the outage still works. A pass issued during the outage reaches the gate when the connection returns, and until then the gate says plainly that it is not on the list yet.
Does the committee see a record of every visitor?
Yes. Every check writes a line: the time, the code, the visitor, the host, whether it was an entry or an exit, and whether it was allowed. That log is available to the estate committee in the admin panel and does not depend on anyone remembering to write it down.
Do visitors need to install anything?
No. The visitor only needs the six digit code, which arrives as a normal WhatsApp message. Only residents, gatemen and the estate committee use the apps.
